Thank you for visiting this website of translations of the texts from the Fourth Book of madrigals by Monteverdi. Whilst there exist English translations of many of the vocal texts of the madrigal repertoire, these sometimes use an English that is archaic, with the result that performances can lose much of the immediacy and freshness that the composer intended and the works demand.
